Shelby County’s Warrant Room
The Sheriff’s Fugitive Division says its field officers execute outstanding warrants and that the Warrant Room answers questions from the public, attorneys, and other agencies. The office describes its public portal as a warrant-information system, not a self-help enforcement tool. Use it to check your own status, then ask the office to verify the entry.
The official division page identifies the unit behind the public search and gives a separate phone route for warrant questions.
Active Warrants in Shelby County
Shelby County’s public active-warrant check is the Sheriff’s Office Warrant Information System. It reports sheriff-published warrant information, not every court, city, juvenile, sealed, federal, or out-of-state process. The issuing court remains the source for the case and any order that changes a warrant’s status.
“Active” or “outstanding” is a status label, not a full case history. Ask the Fugitive Bureau whether its entry is current and the issuing clerk whether a recall, service return, or new setting has been entered.
Hourly Refresh Does Not Mean Live
The portal states that it is updated hourly, but the same notice warns that some warrants may already have been resolved. That matters after a court appearance, bond transaction, or recall order. Keep the court receipt or signed order and call the Fugitive Bureau to ask whether the sheriff record has changed.
No universal update interval after a court ruling was found. The stated hourly refresh is a system cadence, not a promise that a new order will appear within one hour.
How the Shelby County Active Warrant List Works
The form accepts optional first and last names, street number and street name, or the warrant number as it appears on the card. A captcha is required. There is no public filter by court, type, city, date, or status. If the form returns a possible match, call 901-222-5627 and ask which court issued the process.
A 2024 SCSO postcard described roughly 20,000 warrants across Shelby County courts and Memphis, Bartlett, Germantown, Millington, and Collierville. It is a dated agency statement, not a current count, and does not establish that every municipal or restricted matter appears in one list.
Note: [ONE LINE - the list updates on a set cadence and lags real events; a name missing from it is not proof no warrant exists, and a served or recalled warrant may still show until the next refresh.]
Shelby County Warrant Entry Fields
The reviewed portal capture did not show a public result sample. A court warrant or capias may identify the number, named person, offense, issuing court, date, bond terms, and service return. The clerk can explain whether a docket entry is active, served, recalled, stayed, or quashed.
Criminal Court Odyssey numbers and warrant-card numbers are distinct. Give the clerk the number printed on your notice and ask which identifier locates the docket.
What an Active Warrant Shows
Read each item as an identifier to confirm, not a complete court record. A search result may remain after resolution or omit the underlying docket. Ask the issuing court for the current record.
| Warrant Number | Use the number as printed on the card: as printed on card. |
|---|---|
| Charge / Offense | Confirm the current court description with the clerk. |
| Issuing Court | Identifies the office that controls settings and recall. |
| Bond Amount | Verify the present amount and conditions with the jail or court. |
| Status | Ask if active, served, recalled, stayed, or quashed. |
A Historical Shelby County Count
The same 2024 postcard said the Sheriff’s Office made roughly 850 warrant arrests per month and described about 20,000 outstanding warrants at that time. Both figures are historical, rounded agency context. Do not treat either as a current open-case total or add them together.
For current status, use the named case and direct confirmation.
Most-Wanted and Warrant Roundups
Memphis Most Wanted and the TBI Top 10 are curated tip lists, not full active-warrant registers. A person can have an active warrant without appearing on either page. Their absence does not prove that no warrant exists.
Key Point: The Memphis Most Wanted program presents its current curated list and tip route.
The TBI Top 10 is a separate state list. Neither roster is copied here, and neither is a complete county warrant search.
One No-Match Is Not Clearance
A blank Sheriff search may reflect a city citation, an entry delay, a juvenile or sealed matter, a federal case, or a record held outside this portal. Start with the court named on the summons or letter. Use General Sessions or Criminal Court for county cases and the named city clerk for a municipal citation.
Tennessee has no complete public statewide warrant portal in the official-source review. The curated TBI list does not fill that gap.
If Your Name Is on the List
If your name appears, do not approach anyone or post a screenshot publicly. Call the Fugitive Bureau at 901-222-5627 to verify the entry and ask about surrender, transportation help, and the issuing court. Then ask the clerk or a Tennessee attorney about the next setting, bond, or recall motion. A court order, not a phone promise, changes the legal status. See bench warrant steps for missed-court process.
Important: Confirm status with SCSO and the issuing court, then get legal advice before arranging surrender or bond.
